I AM Michael Corrado Union Leader and Labour Activist!
Competent, Constructive Leadership!
Competent, Constructive Leadership!
This is my own personal website and in NO way is it directly connected with the organization that i work for, nor is it meant in any way whatsoever to be an endorsement from the organization that I am employed with.
My Name is Michael Corrado.
I am a dedicated, lifelong, labour activist with a proven track record!
My Union life requires me to undergo nominations and elections every 4 years to continue the noble work of union representation.
Your support in my election(s) would be greatly appreciated.
Some victories take many battles to achieve. Professional perseverance is what it takes to drive home important messages that deliver change!

Vote for Michael Corrado if you want someone who dedicates himself 24/7 & 365 days a year in advocating for workers rights.
This is NOT a Monday to Friday 9-5 job!
It is a lifestyle that requires a dedicated commitment where you give 100% to this position and this position only!
I am a true worker activist who always makes time to organize and participate in rallies, festivals and demonstrations that advance the interests of workers, especially airport workers.!
There is a big difference between being a union representative and an activist. To me, a good union representative needs to be both! Otherwise you are simply going through the motions and not giving the 100% that makes a difference in peoples lives.
If you want to vote for someone else who wont give you anywhere near a 100% effort, then you don't comprehend what a Union is for and what a Union is supposed to provide to its members.
Or perhaps you have not had the privilege and good fortune of having Michael Corrado organize your workplace, negotiate your collective agreement, or fight for your rights.
The Designated Service General Chairperson position that I have held since November 2011, by far, has the one of the biggest workloads of any General Chairperson position in Ontario and perhaps in Canada.
There are 11 collective agreements containing approximately 1500 members to administer, negotiate & provide proper representation to.
These 11 employers are located in Toronto and Ottawa. They require quite a bit of travel and much time away from home. I have also been relied upon to help negotiate contracts in other cities and provinces.
This position requires frequent travel to the USA to attend training courses and staff conferences. It requires dedication, as I am expected to be away from home and family for weeks at a time.
With 11 collective agreements comes knowing 11 Companies, their 11 management teams & fully understanding these 11 contracts. It means knowing and dealing with with 11 steward bodies, 11 chief stewards, 11 shop committees, 11 health & safety committees, 11 bargaining committees, scheduling committees, etc.
With a workload this size, the amount of correspondence that is generated and required is significant and would be overwhelming to someone with little or no experience.
A General Chairperson is expected to be proficient in computer skills and write most all of their own correspondence including letters, notices, bulletins, collective agreements, bargaining proposals, legal briefs, along with thousands of emails, text messages, etc.
You need to willingly be mentored over a period of time to be able to learn this job. Fortunately, I was mentored over 15+ years and held almost every position within our Union before I was ready to take on this all encompassing role.
A legitimate General Chairperson needs to know how to process grievances and conduct arbitrations, conciliations and mediations. They need to know how to handle Labour Board matters and proceedings, unfair labour practices, duty of fair representation matters, and general WSIB issues. They need to have a detailed understanding of the Employment Standards Act, (ESA), along with part 2 of the Canada Labour Code and it’s various regulations that are associated to Health and Safety.
Knowing how to use excel and other programs to cost out the 11 contracts is essential.
Knowing and fully understanding the Unions Constitution, along with the bylaws and policies is also essential.
Being able to stand in front of large groups of people to give reports, speeches, presentations, etc. and fully explaining tentative agreement offers that are reached at bargaining tables to Union members is a vital part of the position.
Lastly and most importantly, you need to know how to organize non unionized workplaces and be dedicated in doing so. I can proudly say that I have had much success in this area. take a look at the organizing section on this webpage for information and to see my successes.
This is NOT a job that you apply for because you want a pay increase and hope to win a popularity contest!
You should only run for this position or nominate a person to it if you feel that the candidate has the qualities, skills, work ethic and qualifications needed to perform what has been described above and on this webpage.
If you want a representative who is fully and completely dedicated to service you and your fellow Union co-workers, then vote Michael Corrado.
If you feel you deserve someone who can deliver Competent, Constructive Leadership, then vote for Michael Corrado.
The decision is yours!
Elect Michael Corrado if you want to have a representative with a proven track record of success.
Protecting the future is the trait of a true labour leader and experienced negotiator.
I strongly endorsed Dan Janssen as the candidate for General Chairperson!
He is one of the most dedicated, capable and reliable Labour representatives I have ever had the privilege and honour of working with.
Dan has been a General Chairperson for the past 5 years and has done a great job! He has done so during the most difficult times in almost a century, otherwise known as the Covid Pandemic.
Prior to being a General Chairperson, Dan was the Vice President of IAM Local 2323. He is one of the strongest advocates for improved Health & Safety conditions at Toronto Pearson Airport and beyond.
Dan is politically astute. Presently he serves as a municipal councilor in Ward 2 of the Severn Township. He also ran for office at the provincial and federal levels.
Together we have worked on many projects. We have taken on the Greater Toronto Airport Authorities (GTAA) and made gains that fostered a positive difference in our members workplaces and in their lives!
Dan is assigned to represent the IAM members at AAS, Allied Aviation, CUPE, Garda Access Control, Field Aviation, TBH, Securiguard, and others. In total he presently services 10 collective agreements.
I have complete faith in Dan and know that he is quite capable in administrating these contracts and providing top notch representation to the IAM members at these workplaces.
It has been my great honour and privilege in providing Dan with any assistance he needs to improve these contracts and the level of representation that these members deserve.
“True leaders lift people up, not hold them down”.
There is a big difference between being an activist and being a union representative!
I combine both which keeps my moral compass pointing true north.
Being politically aware of issues affecting workers and knowing which politicians are noble or trustworthy enough to assist in protecting & advancing workers rights is so very important.
Unions need to make it a goal to run their own for political office, if we truly want to make meaningful change.
Being a proud father, a loving husband, and responsible family man are blessings that I do not take for granted.
My family has been there for me throughout this noble career path that I am on, and we often participate in functions together.
I love speaking with union members, so feel free to contact me during normal business hours and I will meet with you, either in person or virtually.
